Learn about a no-cost, new investigational procedure to potentially treat symptoms of low back pain caused by Chronic Lumbar Disc Disease (cLDD)
Low back pain is extremely common — it affects more than 80% of Americans at some point in their lives. It's also the number one cause of disability for people between the ages of 45 and 65. One major cause of low back pain is changes in the spine’s structure, with problems in the discs between the bones (called intervertebral discs) responsible for about 40% of long-term cases.
One specific condition, called Chronic Lumbar Disc Disease (cLDD), damages these discs. cLDD can develop due to aging, genetics, injuries, or repeated strain. It often leads to symptoms like ongoing back pain, stiffness, and reduced movement, making everyday activities harder. Treatment depends on the symptoms and usually focuses on relieving pain, improving mobility, and slowing further damage.
If you have tried different treatments for cLDD but still suffer from chronic low back pain, you may be eligible to join a new research study now available at select centers across the U.S. This study is testing whether a one-time injection of stem cells into the affected disc can help reduce symptoms. If you qualify and choose to participate, all study-related care will be provided at no cost.
